The Queen of the Dolomites welcomes its visitors to the heart of the Belluno Dolomites. In 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo hosted Italy's first Winter Olympics, and in 2026, 70 years later, the world's most important winter sports event will be held here again. But Cortina is not only synonymous with the Olympic Games: major competitions in alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowkiting, curling and snow polo are held here every year.
In addition, Cortina d'Ampezzo is the only Italian resort, besides Courmayeur, to be awarded the "Best of the Alps" quality label, which is awarded only to 11 Alpine tourist destinations that offer state-of-the-art services and facilities while preserving their tradition, uniqueness and identity.

Cross-country skiing

Through the hamlet of Fiames you have access to a cross-country trail that spans four regions and 200 km, passing through Carinthia, East Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Veneto. Another highlight is the track to Toblach. In Fiames there is a cross-country ski center with a ski school, ski rental, and ski service. In this area, cross-country skiers have access to more than 70 kilometers of trails. There is also a 2-kilometer loop equipped with night lighting.
