One of the most beautiful hiking trails in Germany is the 280 km long Eichsfeld hiking trail located in the heart of Germany, established after the border opening in 1989 and running through the entire Eichsfeld. The trail offers you breathtaking landscapes, culinary specialties of Eichsfeld, cultural treasures, German-German history, and much more!

The stage 15 of the 260 km long Loccum - Volkenroda pilgrimage route leads from Friedland to Heiligenstadt. Friedland - Reiffenhausen - Rustenfelde - Rengelrode - Heiligenstadt

From Hohengandern through many small villages and through small forests to Günterode

Start at the Bischhausen Mitte bus stop, pass Eschenberg towards Bremke, through Steinbühl to the Green Belt, past the 20 Years of Border Opening memorial stone and a limestone quarry to Rohrberg, over Rohrberg to Heidkopf, between the A38 and Pferdeberg to Rittergut Besenhausen (farm café), over Hottenrode to Eichenberg. On the way back, a route through Reiffenhausen past the campsite in the forest over Schierenberg can be taken.
