Damtierhaltung Clausen

The Damtierhaltung Clausen is a traditional family business and UNESCO partner located in the heart of the Pfälzerwald Biosphere Reserve, established in 1979. On an enclosure area of 12 hectares and a total area of 55 hectares, around 120 fallow deer (Rehe) live. The operation stands for species-appropriate and sustainable keeping of fallow deer. It is run - already in the third generation - by the Weber family, who places great importance on the well-being of the animals and a nature-oriented way of life. Through continuous education and the implementation of sustainable practices, the business produces high-quality, natural, and sustainable products and food. The business philosophy is based on the principle of sustainability and environmental commitment, with education playing a central role. The business unites tradition and innovation to ensure responsible and future-proof agriculture.

In particular, regular guided tours are offered for children and young people (families, kindergarten groups, school classes, etc.), where you can experience the typically shy fallow deer up close, feed them, pet them, and accompany them on a walk through the enclosure. During the farm tour, you will also learn a lot about the deer and their habitat. In addition to the Weber family, the goats Jack, Berta, and Nele are also happy about every visit!
