The newly created circular hiking trail on the heights of the Geisingen district Leipferdingen offers wide views of the Baaralb and the Hegaualb with their distinctive volcanic cones.
Leipferdingen lies in an open, idyllic side valley of the Aitrach valley and is easily accessible by Ringzug. The landmark of the village is St. Michael's Church, a pilgrimage church with Romanesque origins.
The adventure trail „Around Leipferdingen“ has been continuously marked since 2024 and is identified in the hiking map with number 41. The route begins in the village at 685 meters elevation and first leads in a left curve up to a field cross (785 m), which offers an impressive panoramic view over the Leipferdingen valley and the surrounding heights. Another spectacular panoramic view of the „Hegau Volcanic Cones“ awaits us on the premium hiking trail „Old Post Road“. Nearby lies the inconspicuous Osterbühl, where hard basalt tuff is exposed.
On the further path, the three wind turbines installed in 1997 on the Homberg shape the landscape. The ascent to Homberg is rewarded with a wonderful view over Leipferdingen to the Aitrach valley. On the descent, we finally return to the starting point of the route.

Roadbook
Motorized hikers start in the village center of Leipferdingen at the signpost location „At the Town Hall“. From there, the adventure trail „Around Leipferdingen“ leads in the direction of „Train Station“ to the St. Michael's Church.
From the Leipferdingen Train Station (685 m above sea level) we first hike a short stretch through the Aitrach valley toward Blumberg until the fork „At Neuhau“. Over the Kratzhalde it goes uphill to the location „Lehle“ near the Neuhau hut and further to a height of 793 meters. From here we enjoy an impressive panoramic view – from the Baar in the west over the Länge in the east to the Neuhewen, the highest Hegau volcano mountain.
The path continues over the „Nagler's Halde“ and „Stockreute“ and finally through the Duggenhart Forest to the Spitzhütte on the Old Post Road. Here, a panorama of the southern Hegau volcano mountains opens up. Yellow signposts mark the transition to the district of Konstanz. Now we follow the premium hiking trail, turn left at the fork „Haslen“ and hike along the forest edge with views of the Osterbühl. Black basalt tuff appears in the quarry on the northern edge of the hill.
At the location „Haslereck“ we leave the premium hiking trail and follow the circular path straight ahead to the location „Weiherwiesen“. Then we ascend in a zigzag to the Homberg and reach the cross on its western ridge. After a last look at Leipferdingen, the descent leads back over the location „Innerer Homberg“ to the town hall and church in Leipferdingen.
If you want to save yourself the walk through the village, take the local bus with good connection to the Leipferdingen Train Station.
