Carreiro da Senhora (Montejunto)

You can enjoy the characteristic fauna and flora of the mountain range, but also the landscapes shaped by man – vineyards – whose color tone varies depending on the time of year. However, it is a demanding route. Endurance is one of the challenges. With almost 22 kilometers in length and about 900 meters of accumulated elevation gain, it is physically demanding for the hiker. It also requires experience, as it is unmarked and, in some areas, features narrow paths. Being a limestone area, natural cavities are frequent, so it is not advisable to leave the path. In this regard, the use of orientation equipment – GPS or maps – is recommended, as well as comfortable clothing and footwear that adapt to sudden weather changes, which are very common in the Serra de Montejunto, especially in terms of wind and fog.
