The route (over 200 km) is divided into 19 stages, each with an average length of about 13 km, along which it is possible to discover different landscapes rich in biodiversity: 2 natural parks, 1 nature reserve, 7 community sites of the "Natura 2000" network, 1 ecological corridor. 900 species of flora, 40 species of mammals, 150 species of birds, 19 species of reptiles and amphibians, 17 species of fish, and over 1000 species of insects. There are 30 municipalities crossed by the Path and 250 those accessible from the rings. It connects all the protected areas of the Piedmont Apennines, creating an ideal link between people, places, cultures, and traditions.

The route is classified as hiking and tourist, so accessible to everyone provided they are properly equipped and it can be traveled on foot or by bicycle. Except for short stretches on municipal and provincial roads, it takes place on paths, mule tracks, and private roads for public use.
