Route description
Who has been gnawing on the tree? And who left the strange footprints? This nature trail is all about the beavers that live around the idyllic Kleiner Mochowsee lake. Information boards, signs and pictures of footprints explain the aquatic habitat of the large rodents and dispel preconceptions. An artificial beaver lodge provides further insights. At three kilometers, the short nature trail is suitable for families and is one of a total of six circular trails that connect to the Ludwig Leichhardt Trail in loops. All the circular trails together form the "Ludwig Leichhard Nature Trail" and cover a length of around 32 kilometers. This makes the nature trail one of the longest in Germany. Each trail is dedicated to a selected aspect of the impressive and diverse natural landscapes between Goyatz and Butzen.
