Ring of the Waldensian Valleys (AVV) in Val Pellice
The itinerary unfolds in 8 stages across the municipalities of Angrogna, Bobbio Pellice, Rora', Torre Pellice, and Villar Pellice, with a total length of about 120 km.
This is a hiking route of high naturalistic and environmental value, accessible from each concerned municipality, and also allowing departure to reach the center of the individual villages where responses to historical and cultural questions can be found and accommodations to taste local typical products. Many of these paths are strongly connected with local history: the Waldensian history for which these mountains have been a stage for centuries, the connections with France to ensure commercial exchanges, the Resistance during the Second World War. The mountainous environment, with agricultural vocation, also characterized by scarce contacts with cities and the plains, has favored the persistence of ancient traditional and cultural expressions. Popular traditions, customs, ways of living and relating to the surrounding environment have ancient origins and the cultural, religious, and linguistic variety of the territory translates into a heritage of traditions that makes these valleys a land very rich in expressive forms. In the area there are several museums that testify to the various aspects that have characterized valley culture.
The itinerary, which mostly runs on GTA trails and others in the Piedmont Region's hiking network, is connected at several points with long and medium-distance itineraries registered in the National Trail Cadastre, with cross-border itineraries and with thematic routes, lasting a few hours, clearly educational and training in purpose, well equipped, suitable for all and with functional hospitality areas.
