Andros Trail 16 - Ano Agios Petros - Batsi
Starting from Agios Petros, this route descends towards the seaside settlement of Batsi through the typican backcountry of Andros.
Starting from the settlement of Agios Petros and the plaza with the beautiful fountain under the church of the same name, the hiker takes a northerly direction and after a gentle climb towards the upper edge of the settlement steps into the first of the downhill paths that will eventually take them to Batsi. The extensive downhill that is the main component of this route gives many points with excellent views towards the western coastline of the island and the wider area. The succession of old paths between fields with agricultural and low traffic paved roads leads the hiker to the point from where the route 16a via asphalt and dirt road leads to the circular route 15a. Further down the route is the point where an asphalt section of about 500 meters leads to the Monastery of Agia. It is a remarkable castle-monastery, which has great historical and religious interest. After this point, the descent through old paths and dirt roads gradually approaches Batsi from the north overlooking the settlement. As the trail passes the first houses of the settlement the cobblestone trails are replaced by concrete roads, stairs and footpaths to finally bring the hiker to the beach of Batsi where a coastal footpath leads them to the start of route 11 in the center of the sea front of Batsi.

One could consider combining this route with route 15 and the branches that these two routes have. In this way they could start from the settlement of Gavrio and end up at Batsi having seen all the hills and settlements behind these two in between.
