On the shepherds' paths - bicycle loop from Cuorgnè
Bicycle route from Cuorgnè, following the Orco River, leading to the discovery of the Sanctuary of Ozegna and the local producers
The route takes us to discover the village of Valperga, with its castle that was home to the Counts of Valperga-Caluso, at the foot of the UNESCO site Sacro Monte di Belmonte. With a short detour, we will reach Cascina Primavera, where it is possible to taste the dairy products that the Berta family has been producing for three generations. The route continues towards Salassa, skimming the banks of the Orco River, which we cross shortly after the town of Rivarolo. We then arrive at the Sanctuary of Ozegna, visitable by reservation, known for the legend of a mute shepherd who went on a pilgrimage to Oropa.
From here we continue until we cross the beautiful village of Agliè, with its ducal castle, visitable from Friday to Sunday.
We then reach Castellamonte, famous for the very ancient tradition of ceramic making. On the way back, a stop at the Piova Mill is a must, where Chiara will welcome us to let us taste her "paste di meliga" famous throughout Canavese!
