Lake of volcanic origin north of the city of Rome
Surrounded by the Sabatini Mountains, Lake Bracciano is the eighth largest lake in Italy and probably the most famous in Lazio. Locals go there for walks, bike rides, picnics and relaxing on the small beaches.
Together with nearby Lake Martignano, Lake Bracciano is part of the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Natural Park.
On the shores of the lake stand several picturesque villages such as Bracciano with its Orsini-Odescalchi Castle, Trevignano Romano and Anguillara Sabazia.
