The „new castle“, also called Maschio Angioino, is located in Naples. Since then, the castle has been rebuilt several times.
In the 13th century, Charles I of Anjou had the castle built directly on the water. Among the features added later is the white marble triumphal arch. The castle is open to visitors and the Museo Civico housed inside is well worth a visit.
