Welcome to Rallarvegen, also known as the Navvies' Road, one of Norway's most famous bike rides. The word "rallar" refers to the workers who built the road in the early 20th century. The road was built as a route for transporting materials and workers during the construction of the Bergen Line, a railway line that runs through the mountains of western Norway. Now it is one of Norway's most popular bike rides. There are many cultural experiences along this bike ride, including the Rallar Museum and the Flåm Folk Museum. The nature along the road is magnificent.
The route starts from Hotel Finse 1222, a historical hotel located in the small mountain village of Finse. The ride is fairly long, but has a lot of downhill. It's only recommended for fairly experienced cyclists or hikers. For the full package, including overnight stays and equipment needed for this bike ride, see this offer of only 599 euro where you can stay at the famous Historic Hotels.
