This route belongs to the cycling network of the Historical Villages of Portugal.
This route starts from the main square of Piódão along the road to Vide, downhill, steep in some places. Caution is advised when descending, as vehicles may circulate and the road is somewhat narrow and uneven, with steep slopes after the shoulder. Until Vide, we are always going downhill, with poor pavement and narrow road without shoulders or protection, passing through some small villages lost in the mountains. Foz D'Égua, Casas Figueiras, Abitureira, Rodeado, among others. Before reaching Vide, we turn left onto the N230, near the Alvôco river bridge. We pass Vide and follow the N230 always with the Alvôco river by our side, until the Ponte das Três Entradas, passing through Parente and Alvôco das Várzeas. At Ponte das Três Entradas, we take the left one and start the ascent to the Açor mountain, with average slopes around 5% to 7%, steeper in some places. This climb is about 15 km long and passes through some villages such as Aldeia das Dez, Goulinho, and Vale de Maceira, with the Senhora das Necessidades hill on our left in the final part, and the magnificent views of the Açor mountain on our right, with its deep valleys and slopes dotted with small villages lost in time. At the top, we turn left and descend to Piódão on a well-paved road inviting speed, and sharp curves warming the brakes. When we start to see the Historical Village, we feel fulfilled by the provided image and the feeling that this is one of Portugal's hidden treasures. We finish at the main square of Piódão.
