Smeraldo Lake is an artificial basin which, inserted in the alpine environment of the area, increases its charm and beauty.

The Emerald Lake is located in Fondo north of the valley at 1000 meters above sea level. The lake was built in recent times (1964) blocking the Rio Fondo, it has become the pride of the community. In summer, its small beach is ideal for a picnic and to cool off. In winter, however, the lake turns into a huge open-air skating rink. On the other hand, the particular and easy walk that from the center of the village of Fondo reaches the lake along the narrow "Valle dei Molini" which climbs the canyon between concretions, giant pots and fossils never tires. The path carved into the rock and equipped with comfortable walkways is also illuminated at night. Along the route you can admire an ancient wash house, the Roman bridge, the reconstruction of an old mill.

Directions

The lake can be easily reached by car following the directions from the village of Fondo. On foot, a beautiful and simple walk leads from the "Giò a l'Aca" district in the center of Fondo to the lake, passing through the ravine.
