Lauvet d’Ilonse (crossing)
A route over the Lauvet d’Ilonse passes for long stretches over alpine pasture and high meadows, where sheep and goats graze from May to September, protected by vigilant guardian dogs. When their paths cross with a hiker, a herd always has priority and one should keep a safe distance to avoid making the dogs nervous. Usually, a shepherd is always with the herd to manage such encounters.
The summit area of Lauvet d’Ilonse is gentle and formed by several small hills. Therefore, a route without a path is easily possible, provided the weather is good and visibility is clear.

Roadbook
At the Col de la Sinne, follow the signpost "Lauvet d’Ilonse" and initially walk gently uphill parallel to the road and soon through light mixed forest. At a spring with a fork in the path, continue straight ahead, and at the Col des Fourches also straight ahead (signpost "Lauvet d’Ilonse"). After a long traverse of the slope, a path branches off to the right to an alpine hut, but here, too, continue straight ahead and slightly uphill. At a short scree area the path becomes somewhat unclear and you follow the yellow markings. Then the path soon turns left and reaches a saddle. From there, on a faint path, continue south to the summit plateau. The path makes a large left bend and reaches a gentle ridge, where you turn 90 degrees to the right and climb without a path to the highest point with a stone pyramid to enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama.
From the summit, cross the extensive plateau and continue to the westernmost subpeak, where you descend southwest to a flat saddle and continue in the same direction following the ridge to the last elevation. Here you turn sharply to the right to descend over a steep slope to a clearly visible forest road. There, turn left and continue slightly downhill until you reach a right-hand hairpin bend, where at a signpost "Col des Fourches" a footpath branches off diagonally left (yellow markings) and leads along the slope in a traverse. At first the path is somewhat overgrown but soon leads into a beautiful old alpine path that runs horizontally around a ridge and eventually reaches the ascent route, where you turn right back to the starting point.
