Valle Maira: From Camoglieres to San Martino

At the upper end of the village, the trail leaves Camoglieres and initially follows the same altitude in a westerly direction below the 'Le Rocche' walls before descending into the Comba-Friere valley after a turn to the north; it finally reaches the hamlet of Caricatori and the - largely abandoned - village of Langra (972m) on the connecting road.

From Langra, the route first heads north-west along the Comba Font Buient valley, then climbs steeply westwards to the panoramic ridge shoulder of Colle Pertus (1370m) and continues slightly downhill over sunny meadow slopes to the romantic hamlets of Centenero (1228m) and Caudano (1131m), before reaching the solitary church of San Peyre (1238m).

The side valley 'Bedale di San Giuliano' is reached in a wide northern arc. Via Cucchiales Sottano (1355m) and Ciamino (1333m) you finally reach the spectacular San Martino inferiore (1378m, refreshment stop and overnight accommodation) perched on a mountain shoulder.
