Durchs Chemnitztal schnaufte einst die Eisenbahn 100 Jahre lang von Wechselburg bis Chemnitz. Heute liegt auf der alten Trasse der Chemnitztalradweg.
Ein kleines Stück im romantischsten Abschnitt, dem Schweizerthal, wird heute für die Museumsbahn genutzt. Und man kann so im offenen Aussichtswagen des Dieselzuges oder sportlich auf den Fahrraddraisinen das Chemnitztal entdecken. Übrigens: Markersdorf-Taura ist als Landbahnhof nahezu komplett mit Empfangs- und Wirtschaftsgebäude, mechanischem Stellwerk, Wasserstation, Güterschuppen und Getreidespeicher erhalten.
