This route connects the Schist Village of Benfeita to the Historic Village of Piódão. Along the 27 km route, there is passage and later a panorama over the Margaraça Forest, one of the most remarkable deciduous forests in Portugal. It is a panoramic section equipped with stopping points, with viewing angles ranging from west to northeast, extending up to the beginning of the descent to Piódão.

Enjoy the excellent natural conditions for cycling that you find in the Schist Villages. Stay attentive to the beautiful landscapes that surround you at every moment.

Benfeita is one of the "white villages" of the Schist Villages Network. Appreciate the village from the Moscas Fountain, pass through Fraga da Pena, and stroll in the Margaraça Forest. Visit the Peace Tower and understand its symbolism and, to relax, enjoy the amenities of the area.

The Margaraça Forest has been documented since the second half of the 13th century. This forest corresponds to one of the most remarkable deciduous forests in Portugal. The Margaraça Forest can be visited all year round, but in spring we can observe the flowering of many herbaceous species and, notably, the rarest ones. In autumn, the tones of the leaves of many tree species give the space an atmosphere of serene change. The visits are free and unrestricted.

Roadbook

Via EM518 through Pardieiros and Monte Frio until we reach EN344, with passage and later a panorama over the Margaraça Forest. Continue the ascent on EN344 until the left turn to Piódão via EM508, which we follow: a panoramic section equipped with stopping points, with viewing angles ranging from west to northeast, extending up to the beginning of the descent to the Historic Village. The final part of the route is particularly appealing due to the successive approach angles to the village.
