Naturpark Föhrenberge - 7 Peaks Trail
Great moderate trail route over 7 peaks and 15 km, also nicely "spiced" with 500 meters of elevation gain.
Great, selective trail route with nearly 500 meters of elevation on 15 km. The route is filled with great, sometimes challenging climbs alternating with magnificent, well runnable downhills that never get technically too demanding.
"You must go over 7 peaks...the peaks are small regional "hills" but almost always reachable via nice, sometimes hidden trails and provide enormous fun running.
The whole route stays true to this motto, is always varied, never boring, and makes you want more.
Author’s recommendation
Can be run in both directions.
Several geocaches can be found along the route. More at: www.geocaching.com
The partly intricate and narrow trails are also good for running with poles.

Roadbook
The trail starts directly at the easily accessible Kuhheide parking lot in Giesshübel and also ends there. The route is easy to run in both directions, with the original route running clockwise. This has the advantage that you can warm up well on the downhill trail towards Wassergespreng. In Wassergespreng, the short road section towards Höllensteinhaus is left to the left. From here, it goes uphill only until the Höllensteinberg (1st peak), almost always on beautiful trails, sometimes interrupted by well runnable forest roads.
It is not far from the Höllensteinhaus to the Kussberg (2nd peak), an unobtrusive summit on the narrow path towards Kreuzsattel.
There we leave the trail sharply to the right and follow the good gravel road towards Seewiese. At the Huberarm shelter hut we follow a narrow meadow path to the left towards Gaisberg. A magnificent single trail winds its way up to Gaisberg (3rd peak).
After the summit we follow the trail again towards Seewiese. After Seewiese, we leave the forest road to the left and follow narrow forest and meadow paths to Großen Sattelberg (4th peak).
Shortly thereafter, the trail runs directly over the Salzstanglwirt guesthouse near the Kugelwiese. After a few meters, we leave the trail to the left and take on the ascent to Mugl - height via a narrow trail.
Now we run directly past Salzstanglwirt and leave the forest road to the left towards Kardinalgraben. We leave the well runnable trail at about km 13 to the right and follow a very narrow path towards Sperkhermstein (6th peak).
Then it goes downhill to the forest road, and after some time we turn right to the Nemecek hut. From there you have a great view of Giesshübl and far into the Vienna Basin.
Soon after, the Tenneberg (7th peak) is reached. Then we follow a fun single trail downhill and are back at the Kuhheide parking lot after a short time.
