"The Garden of Scent and Splendor" as a symbol of ancient chinese scholarly gardens.
The garden consists of small Chinese pavilions, a pond and other water elements. It bears the poetic name "The garden of fragrance and splendour". The cantonal garden office laid it out as a symbol of the four seasons, following the example of old Chinese scholarly gardens.According to Chinese philosophy, man should be able to fit into the rhythm of the year and life and adapt to given circumstances. Therefore, Chinese gardens usually contain many hidden hints to remind people of this teaching through symbols that they encounter everywhere. You enter through the gate of spring and walk along winding paths that are meant to remind you of the path of life, as it is often not straight, up to the stone houseboat that represents the summer. From there you have a view over all other seasons. Looking back, you can see spring, and to the right, autumn with colourful foliage. Opposite, the pavilion of winter symbolizes the virtues of toughness, perseverance in challenging situations and the ability to adapt through plum, pine and bamboo. The walker can stop in the pavilion of winter and look back on his life, symbolised by water lilies.Calligraphic texts underline the message of the respective garden scene.
