Geschwister-Scholl-Place is on the forecourt of the Ludwig Maximilian University. As the name suggests, it is dedicated to the siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl.
At the Geschwister-Scholl-Place in front of the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich there is also the "White Rose" memorial. The memorial is made of stone leaflets that are scattered over an area of approximately 15 meters. The arrangement of the leaves is not left to chance, they form thematic groups. The leaflets in front of the main entrance are reminiscent of Hans and Sophie Scholl and Christoph Probst. The next newspaper clipping shows an article about the death sentences. Various leaf ensembles directly at the fountain deal with Alexander Schmorell, Willi Graf and Hans Leipelt. The conclusion is the newspaper news that the death sentences have been executed.The White Rose was a resistance group against the dictatorship of National Socialism. The initiative was formed from the circle of friends of Hans and Sophie Scholl. It was created in the Second World War before it was smashed between late February and April 1943.
