In winter, Kalastuspolku - the Fishing Path- changes to a versatile snowshoeing track, offering beautiful scenery on a changing profile. The route from Paljakka Tourist Center follows along the river Louhenjoki through old meadow landscapes until after a while the route turns towards the frozen lake Rakennusjärvi. A grilling hut awaits hikers on the shore, where you can have a stopover at  the fireplace. After lake Rakennusjärvi, the route continues towards the center of Paljakka. Due to the length and height differences of the route, it is recommended only with limitations for families and beginners.

The route is marked with green paint markings on the terrain. The recommended direction for this tour is anticlockwise.

Paljakka Hotel and snowshoe rental services are available at the starting point of the route.

    Roadbook

The snowshoe trail starts in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Paljakka and Paljakka House. With snowshoes, it is recommended to walk the route anticlockwise due to the difference in altitude at the beginning. In the beginning the route will take you through the forest until you descend to flat ground next to a creek. From here the route continues to follow the Fishing path for a while. From here the elevation differences remain fairly moderate until you reach the final ascent that leads you to lake Rakennusjärvi. Here you can take a break in the grilling hut. Fire wood is provided in a wood shed next to the hut. The place offers a beautiful view of the lake. After the grilling hut, the route continues around Lake Rakennusjärvi and heads towards Paljakka Tourist Center and hotel Paljakka.
