Here's how to save individual routes with maps for offline use:
Here's how:
1. Select the route you want in the app.
2. Tap the download icon in the bottom bar.
What gets saved?
- The corresponding map section, including the detailed route path
- Comprehensive descriptions, key details, and inspiring media
Important: To use offline navigation, you need to download the route itself, not just the map section!
Here's how to save entire map areas for offline use:
Here's how:
- Open Map mode.
- Move and zoom the map to the desired area.
- Tap the map download icon in the upper right corner.
Important notes:
- The download icon only becomes active once you've zoomed in far enough on the map.
- The maximum size for a single map section is about 180 x 120 km (112 x 75 mi).
- You can save as many map sections as you like, one after another.
- Areas you've already downloaded are marked on the map. Overlapping areas are efficiently saved only once and appear seamlessly in the map view.
Topo maps require a lot of storage space (up to 1GB per section)—significantly more than, for example, the Outdooractive or OSM map.
How to optimize: Skip the last two zoom levels when downloading if you feel confident in your destination area or are already familiar with the terrain. Keep in mind, though, that this means giving up the finest map details.
