You follow the valley road down a bit. After the town sign before Migliere, turn left and cross the river. On the other side, a path goes right up the slope (signpost) through the forest. At 1648m you leave the forest at the Trione alpine pasture. The path leads through the alpine buildings upwards on the left. A little above the pasture, the path turns right, passing a spring and more alpine buildings. After some time, the path ascends again to the left until you reach the two Laghi di Trione (2164m). You pass by the lakes.
The pass you see from here is not the crossing to the other valley! About 100m behind the second lake the path branches left. The junction is easy to miss, especially as you feel you are still on the wider path. If you reach a small river valley, you have gone wrong and must return towards the lake.
The correct path now first goes south and then east up the slope. Finally, it turns south again, leads through a last thicket, and then climbs the last few meters to Colle di Trione at 2485m.
From the pass, you descend steeply to Lago Vasuero and continue on the southward descent path along the next alpine pasture.
You soon see Alpe Vasuera sopra. The descent does not lead to the alpine pasture (caution, do not turn right). The distinct slope path to the pasture crosses a stream. Before the stream, the GTA turns left and follows the stream to Alpe Vasuera Sotto. Behind the pasture, the path is indistinct. It leads only slightly downhill to the right (southwest) to the next river valley. You cross it on a good path. On the other side, you descend to Alpe Pian Bosco. Slightly below the pasture, you meet an alpine road, which you follow to the next pasture (Pian Bosco). Shortly before the pasture, you can leave the road and follow below the slope.
At Alpe Pian Bosco, the path now goes downhill. You cross the road briefly again before continuing the descent through the forest. At 1420m, you meet a small road again, on which you now hike uphill until you reach the valley road. Follow it for another 500m to Balme.
