Seven Forest Wonders: Historic Circular Hiking Route Leistadt
On winding paths through chestnuts, pines, and heather, mysterious places of sandstone line up, all of which tell wondrous stories for young and old.
Laura Hut: In 1845, district judge Wilhelm Retzer built this hunting hut.
Krummholzer Chair: In the 2nd and 3rd centuries, Romans quarried stones here for coffins and the city wall in Worms.
Soup Bowl: From the 12th to 18th centuries, boundary stone for district borders and meeting point for joyful toasts after boundary inspections.
Leininger Boundary Stone: Boundary stone of the Counts of Leiningen-Hardenburg from the year 1595.
Canapé: Hermitage, inhabited from the 14th to 16th centuries.
Devil's Bench: Rock-carved seat with another boundary stone
Leininger Devil's Wall: Rock reef in the layer of the Upper Buntsandstein.
Roman wheel tracks: The iron-shod wheels of the heavily stone-laden wagons from Krummholzer Chair traced these nearly 2,000-year-old marks in the rock.
Love Letterbox: Old legends promise that lonely maidens who drop in a leaf will find a suitor. Nowadays, one sometimes finds paper messages in the letterbox (stone slot).
Wallet: Whoever adds a stone to this rock crevice will become rich.

JoujouSafety information
Please leave the signs for the next hikers! You can get these for only €2.50 at the Tourist Information Bad Dürkheim.
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground, unevenness, roots, stones, or holes may cover the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may break off afterward. Particularly with adverse weather conditions, natural paths may be muddy and slippery in places. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some areas. You must expect such path impediments when hiking. If you think certain path sections are not walkable for you, you should avoid them. Despite the "unmistakable" marking of the premium hiking trails, we always recommend carrying a suitable hiking map for safety reasons so you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency. Path closures and detours must be strictly observed.
Danger situations:
In an emergency, quick help is crucial. Although mobile phones can send GPS signals, classic rescue points are often the quickest. These are located at places accessible to rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign during your emergency call. This way, rescuers know where to find you.
Note:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed, and we might not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.
Roadbook
We start at the parking lot "Felsenberg-Berntal" always following the sign "Seven Forest Wonders: Historic Circular Hiking Route Leistadt". After crossing the L517, we walk slightly uphill towards the cemetery. We follow the left path past the cemetery uphill towards Grasweg and the weekend house area. At the end of the path, go left through the area. Following the marking, after a few kilometers we reach the next weekend house area "Rotsteig", which we only briefly touch as we keep right. At the boundary stone, we turn left and walk on a heather-lined path to the Laura Hut. After a few hundred meters, we turn left and walk uphill to see the further forest wonders. At the Leininger boundary stone, but also at many other places, picnic groups are available for a rest. After a sharp left turn, downhill are the last three forest wonders: the wheel tracks, the love letterbox, and the wallet. The marking leads us through Leistadt through the weekend house area Rotsteig. After crossing the main road (opportunity to refresh in "Lilo's Woistubb") into Freinsheimer Straße, we keep left and after a few meters can see our starting point, the parking lot "Felsenberg Berntal" on the left side.
