Roadbook
Alajero is the starting point of the third stage of the circumnavigation of the Canary Island La Gomera. First, the Barranco de Jurgan must be crossed, meaning first down to the innermost point, then up again on the other side. Once at the top, we reach the asphalt road that comes down from Imada. Along it there are some alarm-secured houses. The last 600 m are only passable for off-road vehicles and enduros. Upon reaching the memorial plaque for the hermit Ernst, we are almost at the end of the asphalt road. The Geocache Kaktussuppe, which also contains the recipe for the specialty, commemorates the hermit Ernst of Almacigos. At an e-station, the road ends; not far from there is the hermitage, which is inhabited again. Arguayoda is already visible in the distance, but until then, the Barrancas Chinguey, Cinco Palmas, and Negro must be overcome. In the first ravine there is, in addition to an (empty) water basin, even a small water basin carved into the rocks in the right rock wall, into which water drips. At La Manteca (390 m) the path to El Drago branches off to the right. Above Arguayoda (418 m) we reach the access road from El Drago to the village (dead end). However, we follow the gravel road further southwest downhill to the crossroads, where a steep descent to the bay Rajita is made to then climb steeply on the opposite side to La Dama. The area of La Dama is considered the island’s most important fruit producer due to the fertile soils.

Author’s map recommendations
The OSM or outdooractive map of La Gomera should be saved in advance on the smartphone with the app alpenvereinaktiv Pro to overcome areas without reception. The map Camino la Gomera is available free of charge at the tourist offices on the island, but my edition from January 2018 showed the GR-131 but not the course of the GR-132.
