Just a few kilometers away from the Baltic Sea coast lies Hemmelsdorfer See, which extends over the inland with a total area of 4.6 km². Here we take you to a great lookout tower, the "Hermann-Löns-Blick," and through the nature reserve surrounding the lake. The route can be partially shortened via small hidden paths not marked on the map. Enjoy the unique atmosphere!
By the way: Hemmelsdorfer See is the lowest point in the entire Federal Republic of Germany!

Our starting point for this route is Timmendorfer Platz in Timmendorfer Strand. From there, we walk through the town center toward Klein Timmendorf and Groß Timmendorf. The path to Hemmelsdorf leads past fields, meadows, and a farm. The first destination of the hike is Hemmelsdorfer See. Enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the lake - perhaps even with a cup of coffee or a fish sandwich at the fishery courtyard!
From there, our route takes us through the nature reserve at the Aalbek lowlands. Climb the lookout tower at Hermann-Löns-Blick: it’s worth it! You turn your back on the lake and head east toward the Baltic Sea - not far away you reach Niendorf, the authentic fishing village with its dreamy harbor. Many cafés and restaurants invite you to linger here as well.
The last meters are covered along the beach. You will enjoy a great view of the bay - combined with fresh sea air, a breeze, and, ideally, warming sunshine on your skin. Pure relaxation!
