Mining history comes to life at the Lengefeld Limeworks Museum. Located directly on the Saxon-Bohemian SILVER ROAD, four imposing historic lime kilns invite you on a journey back to times long past, when raw limestone began to be mined in Lengefeld. The lime works is one of the most important technical monuments of the old binder industry in Europe.
The Pockau oil mill dating from 1783 is the only one of 16 mills still preserved in its original state. Pockau is also home to the "Kurfürstliche Amtsfischerei" museum, an imposing half-timbered building dating from 1653 that houses exhibitions on local history, a lace-making and carving exhibition and a large model railway display.
If you want to discover something of cultural and historical value, you will find it in the Lengefeld town church, which houses an extensively restored organ by master builder Zacharias Hildebrandt from 1726, as well as in the baroque Forchheim church with its Silbermann organ, built between 1719 and 1726 by George Bähr.
The Lengefeld Advent market with a mountain church service and a festive procession of miners adds to the unique atmosphere of Christmas in the Ore Mountains.
