Predominantly moderately steep ascent through various alpine pastures with views of the Hagertal, the opposite Unterberghorn and the Kitzbühler Horn.
Half of the route consists of narrow paths where two can walk side by side. The second half consists of narrow trails.
Overall, a very interesting, scenically beautiful and so far little frequented and well-marked ascent.
Author’s recommendation
The ascent can be used as a circular route if you choose the variant via the Kreuzangeralm and the trail to the Hasenaualm on the descent.
This circuit is also well suited as a 2-day route with an overnight stay in the Straubinger Haus.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Behavior rules on alpine pastures:
Cattle have the right of way on alpine pastures, so pass by them carefully and calmly - if in doubt, "speak" to them kindly. Alpine gates must always be closed again after opening/passing to prevent cattle from leaving the pasture.

Coming from Erpfendorf, the start is at a bridge on the right edge of the forest.
Coming from Kössen, the start is at a bridge on the left edge of the forest.
We begin the ascent at the signs and follow the narrow track (No. 28) after a bridge to the Einfangalm.
At the height of the alm, we go left over it and enter a gorge from which we reach the Hasenaualm after a short steeper section.
We continue walking past the buildings uphill and come to the junction of the alternative route to the Straubinger Haus via the Kreuzangeralm.
Here we continue straight and after a flat section pass a beautiful chapel on our way to the Hackalm (no buildings), where it gets steeper into the forest.
We then cross the forest road that leads from the Klausenbergalm to the Kreuzangeralm and continue ascending on path No. 28 to the Weißensteiner Alm. Before or immediately at the alpine hut, the path turns right through the alpine pasture (look for existing marker points, as the path/trail is hardly visible!).
At the edge of the alpine pasture, the now clearly visible trail becomes steeper and winds higher in many switchbacks.
Then follows an up and down to the Neualm (old, unmanaged alpine hut).
After another hilly and flatter section, we can already see the Eggenalm with the Straubinger Haus on the opposite slope. The trail leads us left down the slope to the track and on this to the right to the Straubinger Haus.
