The Straubinger Haus on the Eggenalm can be reached from all sides.

The approach from Seegatterl is the most commonly used.
It starts at the large parking lot in Seegatterl and crosses the Nattersberg and Upper Hemmersuppenalm.

The hike has two character parts.
Up to the Nattersbergalm and between this and the Hemmersuppenalm there are rather unattractive paths in the mountain forest.
At the Nattersbergalm and from the Hemmersuppenalm onward, you walk on beautiful trails with lush flora and good views.

    Author’s recommendation

The approach can be combined with an overnight stay at the Straubinger Haus, a crossing to the Steinplatte, and a descent via the Winkelmoosalm - an overall very attractive circular route.

    Safety information

Rules of conduct on alpine meadows:
Cattle have the right of way on alpine meadows, i.e. pass by them carefully and quietly – if in doubt, "talk to them nicely." Alpine gates must be closed again after opening/passing to prevent cattle from leaving the meadow.

    Roadbook

From the end of the parking lot (south of the stream) we hike uphill on the wide forest road and turn left at the sign to the Nattersbergalm.

At the Nattersbergalm, we cross the alpine meadows and continue on the following forest road. At the sign "Ski Hiking Trail", we turn left and a little further on we turn right onto a very rocky path; after a path crossing, we hike right on a narrow trail flat through the alpine terrain/huts of the Upper Hemmersuppenalm.

After the last hut, we hike left downhill and increasingly steeply through the alpine meadows, mountain forest, and finally rocky terrain to the highest point of the ascent, where it then goes only a few meters downhill to the Straubinger Haus.
