St. Stephen's Basilica Archbishop's Cathedral (parish church of Lipótváros)
The neo-Renaissance church is the church of St. Stephen, 96 m in height, 87.4 m in length and 55 m in width. It can accommodate eight thousand people.
Épétésésésésésésésés started on 14 August 1851 according to the plans of Hild József. In 1867, Hild was replaced by Mikl Ybl, who was appointed to lead the work. On 22 January 1868, the dome of the dome, which had been walled up, collapsed due to faults in the materials used. Ybl then worked on the original neo-renaissance design of the structure, including the neo-classical appearance, with Hild. Mikl Ybl's death was one of the most important achievements of his work;In 1905, the church was consecrated under the leadership of J. Kauser Joseph.
During the second world war the church suffered considerable damage and the entire roof had to be replaced. In 1982, a storm washed away the sheet metal roof of the large dome, leaving the dome completely uninhabitable.
The complete restoration of the basilica began in 1983 and was completed on 14 August 2003. During this period, not only the church but all the church's buildings have been restored and the dome has been renovated, with access not only by foot but also by lift.
The basilica is rich in art and can be visited here by Bertalan Székely, Than Mór és Gyula Benczúr's mosaics, Károly Senyei's relief of St. Stephen, Ede Mayer's bronze relief series and the statue of St. Stephen by Alajos Stróbl.
Include the treasure from the hall, which, alongside the wine-bearing, princely estate of Jó Joseph Mindszenty, is the legacy of Erzsébet from the King's Palace Church in Buda, Hungary.
The basilica's Holy Right Hand is the home of the Hungarian national Catholic relic, the mummified right hand of St. Stephen, the Holy Right.
