Circular route from San Sebastian de la Gomera via Playa de la Guancha
The coastal area of the island capital San Sebastián de La Gomera includes, besides an impressive marina and a picturesque beach promenade, a high plateau that offers hikers great views of the surrounding bays and, in favorable weather, even of the neighboring island Tenerife. This ridge called "Barranco de El Machal" is connected to San Sebastián by a well-maintained high-level trail and leads along the cliffs to the south to the bay of the idyllic natural beach Playa de la Guancha. There, a refreshing sea bath can be taken against a magnificent backdrop. The circular route then continues inland and over the plateau back to the starting point. It covers about 7.5 km and is suitable for experienced hikers.
