Author’s recommendation
Admire the Mittagsfels nature reserve.
The Mittagsfels nature reserve covers approximately 21 ha and is accessible via narrow paths. In early spring, the protected and very rare pasqueflower can be admired here. The rock gets its name from its orientation, as it lies in full sun especially at midday, creating a particularly warm and dry microclimate. During wartime, Mittagsfels was also used as a lookout point because it offers wide panoramic views into both valleys. (http://www.gastlandschaften.de )

General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may break off. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in parts. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you consider certain sections impassable, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.

We start our hike in the small village of Sankt Julian at the community center. We walk along the main street towards the northeast, turn left onto Steinrech street and immediately left again onto Bergstraße, following the access path "Veldenz Hiking Trail" uphill until we meet the marking "Red Dot" below Steinrech.
We now turn left and hike about 2 km westward to the outskirts of Niederalben (Huhnwiese street). This then meets the main street, where we turn right. After about 200 m, we go into "Im Eck" street and after about 300 m into Mühlweg.
After about 75 m, we hike uphill on the Veldenz Hiking Trail (main path = white "V" on blue background), past the cemetery, on partially alpine paths, to the Mittagsfels nature reserve, with a wonderful view of the Steinalpschleife.
Across meadows and beautiful deciduous and mixed forests, we reach Steinhorst and then Steinrech, with further beautiful views towards Glan and the Königsberg.
We now take the paved path downhill again to the access path "Veldenz Hiking Trail" and return via Bergstraße, Steig, Main Street to the community center in Sankt Julian.
