CAMINS
Montardo is a summit of the Central Pyrenees located in the region of the Val d'Aran. Its altitude is 2833 m and, due to its prominence and location, it is one of the best-known mountains of this region and of the entire Pyrenees; colloquially it is incorrectly called Montarto.
Due to its position, slightly off the axial ridge, it is a circular viewpoint from which a splendid view of the entire Val d'Aran is obtained. For this reason, its image is very well known from Pla de Beret, or from the village of Arties, in the municipality of Naut Aran.

Equipment
MOUNTAIN FOOTWEAR REQUIRED (boot or shoe with a specific Mountain sole)
At each stage and depending on the condition of the terrain and/or weather forecast, the recommended type of footwear height (boot or shoe) will be indicated.
CLOTHING
As the routes pass through medium and high mountain environments, and as this is a territory where the weather can change quickly and drastically, we RECOMMEND the following elements regardless of the route difficulty:
- Long pants. If the characteristics of the route along with the expected weather allow the use of shorts, a piece to cover the rest of the leg that is exposed will be carried, either a second pair of pants or long tights in the backpack in all cases.
- Base layer: breathable and quick-drying short-sleeved T-shirt (tank tops are not recommended as they are not suitable for carrying backpacks).
- Second layer: light/medium fleece or long-sleeved T-shirt.
- Third layer: waterproof and windproof rain jacket with hood.
- Cap / Buff or similar for the sun.
- Covid19 safety materials: Mask and hand sanitizer gel.
Although some of these garments may not be used during the itinerary, it is recommended to carry them in the backpack throughout the route and be ready to use them in case of weather changes or unforeseen events to avoid hypothermia in case of weather change or an incident that extends the day.
MINIMUM CONTENT OF THE BACKPACK
- Mountain backpack of 20-30 liters depending on the duration of the route, with its waterproof cover.
- Personal first aid kit with special medications if required. (In case of suffering any illness, illness or injury, the corresponding route guide should be informed about it.)
- Water (minimum 2 liters)
- Food (depending on route duration).
- Sunscreen, cap/hat and sunglasses.
- Documentation and charged phone.
- We recommend always carrying poles in the backpack for use if needed.
