The PWV-Gräfensteinhütte is located in the idyllic Hafertal near the castle community of Merzalben and is easily accessible by car via the L496 and the K52. The nearest bus stop is about 500 metres away at the Merzalben leisure park (timetable information).
The serviced hut is located on the well-known long-distance Pfälzer Waldpfad hiking trail as well as on the local circular routes Alter-Post-Weg, Gräfensteinweg and Merzalber Rundwanderweg in the Gräfensteiner Land region. It is an ideal starting point for hikes to the sights in the surrounding area, such as Gräfenstein Castle, Winschertfelsen or the Rotenstein natural monument.
The hut has 100 seats inside and 60 outside, is barrier-free (wheelchair-accessible entrance and disabled toilet) and is also ideal for families with children (nappy-changing table, play corner, playground). A sufficient number of free car parking spaces are available on site.
