The Beach:
It consists of the classic rocks emerging and parallel to the coast.
At the foot of the bay cliff, the first "caves" were carved out since the early 1900s for sheltering boats and fishing materials. In the following years their number increased and, around the 1960s, the entire "saturation" of the slope was reached. Today, the bathing interests of Ancona residents are directed to other beaches (Portonovo - Mezzavalle) but the Passetto beach still has its charm and is frequented, in addition to the cave owners, also by local residents and, during the week, by those who want to sunbathe or take a quick dip (especially at noon). There are two bathing establishments on stilts and a restaurant on the beach.
In recent years, the Passetto Bay has been regaining interest thanks to initiatives promoted by the municipal administration and the "cave dwellers" associations to rediscover this characteristic and very particular city beach.
