We basically started our city stroll at the supplier entrance of the palace – the Porta Aenea. An inconspicuous gate in the gigantic west wall of the palace facing the sea, which today is a boulevard lined with palm trees. This was formerly the harbor for the sailing freighters from Ravenna and Rome, which could bring their cargo directly through the portal into the palace casemates.
