Moor nature trail in the UNESCO Spreewald Biosphere Reserve
Urlaubsreich.de
On the multimedia moor nature trail in the UNESCO Spreewald Biosphere Reserve, you will get closer to one of the last near-natural moors in Germany in a very special way.
On the moor nature trail, you will receive numerous information about the formation and changes of the moor over the course of Earth's history.
Moors are often one-dimensionally depicted as eerie, swampy, and untouched landscapes. However, the moor habitat is one of the most peculiar, species-rich, and unique ecosystems in the Spreewald.
Moors depend on water and can only develop where water is abundant and the climate allows the growth of peat-forming vegetation. These conditions have existed throughout the Spreewald since the last ice age, about 10,000 to 12,000 years ago. The broad valley, shaped after the melting of the inland ice, allowed extensive low moors to form.
The multimedia moor nature trail in Raddusch and its surroundings shows you the breadth and diversity of these habitats.
