Impressive rock formation made of red sandstone near Münchweiler an der Rodalb with wonderful views.

The Bauwalder Fels is a mighty lookout rock of red sandstone with a cozy seating area that invites you to rest and linger. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the forests of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park and relax with a picnic. The rock is located on the Münchweiler Höhenwanderweg, or more precisely on part 1 of the trail. To the east of it is a core biosphere reserve zone, the protection provisions of which must be observed. The Bauwalder Fels is best reached from the Sauweiher hiking car parking, which is at the end of the Konrad-Adenauer-Ring in Münchweiler an der Rodalb.

Der Bauwalder Felsen ist nur über eine steile, lange Treppe zu erreichen und somit nicht barrierefrei. Es liegt am Münchweiler Höhenwanderweg. Teile der Tour, insbesondere der Aufstieg zum Felsen, führen über schmale Pfade, die sich sowohl von der Ausbauart, als auch von der Topographie her ebenfalls nicht für Gehbehinderte und Rollstuhlfahrer eignen. Insbesondere gibt es auch natürliche Hindernisse wie Steine, Wurzeln oder Baumstämme, die zu überwinden sind. Teils besteht aufgrund des hängigen Geländes sowie an den Felsen Absturzgefahr.

Die Beschilderung erfolgt anhand von einigen wenigen Wegweisern, ansonsten durch Markierungszeichen mit dem Wegelogo. Die Orientierung im Gelände ist demzufolge nicht immer einfach. Daher wird eine Begehung sowie Besteigung des Felsens nur mit entsprechend geschulter Begleitperson sowie unter erhöhter Vorsicht empfohlen.

Der schöne Weg durch den Wald führt zu einem Felsen mit toller Aussicht. Hier kann man auch picknicken. Auf den Felsen führt eine steile Treppe. Bei ihr muss man besonders aufpassen. Auch der Weg auf den Berg ist sehr steil und anstrengend. An einigen Stellen ist er auch schwierig zu gehen und gefährlich, man kann sogar abstürzen. Zudem stehen nicht überall Schilder. Man muss dann dem Logo folgen. Daher nehmen Sie immer eine Begleitperson mit, damit Sie sich nicht weh tun oder verlaufen.
