Bei einem Besuch der 1000 Hektar großen Peitzer Teichlandschaft erlebt man Natur pur. Die ausgedehnte Wasserfläche mit den kleinen Inseln ist Lebensraum vieler geschützter Pflanzen und Tiere sowie ein wahres Vogelparadies. Direkt an den Ufern entlang führen regionale und überregionale Rad- und Wanderwege durch das idyllische Teichgebiet. Für Gäste lohnt ein Besuch im Eisenhütten- und Fischereimuseum oder ein gemütlicher Spaziergang auf dem Teichlehrpfad „Schäperclaus“ zwischen Peitz und Maust. Der nach dem bedeutenden deutschen Fischereiwissenschaftler Prof. Dr. Schäperclaus benannte Peitzer Teichlehrpfad durchquert auf ca. 2,3 km Länge das Teichgebiet. Entlang des gut ausgebauten Weges, der auch für Skater und Radtouristen eine Empfehlung ist, wurden insgesamt 15 Schautafeln und Aktivpunkte installiert. Diese bieten den Besuchern die Möglichkeit, selbstständig die Landschaft, ihre Geschichte und Strukturen zu erkunden.
