    Safety information

Before every hike on the Allgäu Hiking Trilogy, you should basically check the weather. Rain and/or fog can greatly reduce visibility, making it harder to find your way. At the same time, prolonged wet weather increases the risk of slipping.

As the Himmelsstürmer route passes through medium to high elevations of the Allgäu Alps, alpine experience and sure-footedness are essential.

Therefore, you should also expect exposed sections that are slippery and prone to falling, as well as unsecured walking passages over rugged terrain with loose scree, and even snowfields in mid-summer. You should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights.

For your safety, rope protections are installed in some places. Some sections also require more endurance due to basic climbing passages. Here, the use of hands may also be necessary. Additionally, there are some passages

From the terrace of the Gund-Alpe, hike to the right, keep left at the fork (to the right the route coming from Steineberg) and pass through a forested area. Along the edge of the forest, following a stream, you reach the Hintere Krumbach-Alpe, a small hut. Now turn left back into the forest. After about 500 m, ignore the right-turning branch and descend to a wide path, then turn right and hike continuously parallel to the Steigbach through the valley of the same name to Immenstadt. From the Wooden Chapel, the route follows a winter toboggan run to a factory and a cemetery opposite on the outskirts of Immenstadt. Following Adolph-Probst-Straße, cross the tracks near the train station and walk along Bahnhofstraße and Alleestraße through the town center. After crossing a federal road, continue straight through Kalvarienbergstraße, cross the Konstanzer Ach stream, then leave the core city by the street An der Schießstätte. A dirt road leads with a slight ascent to the Rothenfels estate and the former double castle complex with the ruins of Hugofels and Rothenfels. Descend through a wooded area to a country road opposite the Kleine Alpsee. Crossing the road to the right, hike along the Kleine Alpsee with a beach into the Immenstadt district of Bühl. In the town, turn left onto In der Hub street and cross the railway tracks directly to the AlpSeeHaus on the shore of the Große Alpsee.
