Schaumbergalm from Bodinggraben, cycling route
This beginner route runs exclusively within the Kalkalpen National Park and leads to the managed Schaumbergalm. From here, you can see the peaks of the Gesäuse mountains (Gesäuse National Park) in good visibility.
From the Schaumbergalm, you can hike up to the summit of the Trämpl in about 40 minutes (assuming you have sneakers or leisure shoes). For the extra elevation, you will be rewarded with a great view: overlooking the Ebenforstalm, across the Reichraminger Hintergebirge, the rocky northern cliffs of the Sengsengebirge, the Schaumbergalm, and behind it the Große Größtenberg. In good visibility, you can see as far as the peaks of the Gesäuse mountains.

Roadbook
From the Scheiblingau parking lot, follow the gravel road about 1.5 kilometers into the Bodinggraben, one of the most beautiful valley closures of the Eastern Alps.
In the Bodinggraben, the valley opens and the picturesque ensemble of buildings of the former Counts of Lamberg with the managed Jagahäusl, the Adjunktenstöckl, the Rosalia chapel, and the Bodinggraben forester’s lodge welcomes the surprised visitor. Passing the Jagahäusl, cycle about 200 meters to the Schwarzgraben parking lot; here, turn left onto the forest road leading uphill towards Steyrsteg/Windischgarsten. After about 1.3 kilometers, at a hairpin bend, turn left towards Schaumbergalm. Only a short steeper section of forest road requires trained cycling calves, then it goes gently and with little incline to the managed alpine hut.
