Schneealpe via Mitterberg Forest and Mitterberg Ridge
A somewhat demanding, long route on the Schneealpe from Gh. Leitner in Neuwald near Frein.
The actual endeavor begins only at the junction of Kalte Mürz and Kleinbodenbach. The indicated elevation meters include the ascents and descents. The way from Gh. Leitner to the start and back from the end of the descent requires an additional 1.5 hours planning.

The stream crossing can be problematic. In fog, the unmarked path from the Gamskircherl to the marked path is problematic due to several branches.Roadbook
First, it goes for three quarters of an hour from the guesthouse Leitner to the entry point. This is located at the junction of Kalte Mürz and Kleinbodenbach. For experienced hikers, route finding is not a big problem. The Kalte Mürz is crossed by leaving the Kleinbodenbach to the right. Because of the water level, you will usually have to take your shoes off for the crossing. The entry point is marked with a red dot. From there, you continue uphill into the forest following marking dots. As the markings are only sprayed, they may become invisible over the years. The path is easy to find in the lower part up to a rock wall. Underneath the rock wall, the path continues uphill to the left. Two logging clearings must now be ascended. In the upper part, marker arrows point left. It is better here to ascend on the logging clearing near the ridge to the right into the forest. So do not follow the short line of the GPS track left-right as shown on the map but rather stay a bit on the right on the elevation ridge. At the top in the forest, you first stay somewhat right of the ridge, where there are occasionally some faint markings. Towards the ridge from the left front comes a larch corridor that crosses the slope slightly sloping downwards. First, follow this larch corridor slightly descending to cross over to a gully coming from above on the right. Now ascend the gully along trail signs to a cleared larch corridor that leads to the path from the Gamskircherl up to the small Mitterberg wall. If you want to go down this larch entrance, it is not easy to find as the first two meters down are not cleared. Now ascend on these trail signs to the small Mitterberg wall and pull on further to the marked junction - Windberg-Kleinboden.
We went down to the Michlbauer Hut and after the stopover went back up to the junction and from there down to the Kleinboden Creek. Out of the Kleinboden Creek and the long way thereafter to GH Leitner where the cars were parked.
