The route mostly follows forest roads and single trails, occasionally also asphalt, through the Fichtel Mountains. Over forested ridges you first reach the summit of Ochsenkopf from Sophienthal via Königsheide (dining option). From then on, rugged granite rock formations often line the way. The descent from Ochsenkopf on step-like single trails (with a short uphill to Weißmainfelsen) demands considerable riding skills. Via the inn "Karches" it is not far to Schneeberg, the highest point of the route with its observation tower "Backöfele." After a technically interesting descent, you pass the Nußhardt rock (pushing section) to Seehaus (dining option). The next section initially follows a single trail, then a forest road to Silberhaus at the B303. After crossing the federal road, the path leads to "Hohe Matze," another impressive rock formation (pushing section, tricky descent). Shortly after, Kösseine comes into view and soon you reach the third-highest mountain of the Fichtel Mountains at 939 m, where the Kösseinehaus right at the summit offers excellent cuisine. From there you go down to Ebnath and continue on the Fichtelnaab bike path to Mehlmeisel. Here begins the last ascent of the route, which runs parallel to the ski slope in many switchbacks on a paved road up to Bayreuther House (dining option). Then you're basically done. The last 12 kilometers lead mostly downhill on varied surfaces past Gänskopfhütte (dining option) back to Sophienthal.
