The fountain, designed by Walter Graser in 1986, depicts the history and present of the world's largest wine festival, the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt (held over nine days around the 2nd and 3rd weekends in September). A Dubbeglas, the Ferris wheel, a father being driven home by his family in a stroller, the monk drinking with the Count of Leininger, or the beehive representing the "evacuation" of bees from Dürkheim beekeepers, among others: There's much to marvel at and smile about.
