Water feature (1954)
Dr. Max Fischer
This fountain on the edge of the spa gardens, opposite the town hall and in the immediate vicinity of a busy road, is nevertheless an insider tip. Embedded in a successful combination of architecture, the pillars and the sandstone wall, and horticultural design, the small area offers an opportunity to retreat and reflect.
For the important garden theorist Christian Cay Lorenz Hirschfeld (1742-1792), parks without water were unthinkable: ‘Water is to the landscape what mirrors are to a building, what the eye is to the human body.’
