Der Münchhausen-Brunnen mit dem halben Pferd wurde 1962/63 in Bodenwerder eingeweiht.

Die Brunnenanlage im Park des Münchhausen-Gutshofes wurde von Bruno Schmitz anlässlich der 675-Jahrfeier gefertigt und ist aus Wesersandstein hergestellt. Das Pferd und sein Reiter Münchhausen sind aus Bronze entstanden. Er stellt eine Anekdote aus dem Türkenkrieg dar, als Münchhausen seinen „halben“ Litauer am Marktbrunnen zu Oczakow tränken lässt.

  • Hier ein kleiner Einblick in die Geschichte: Münchhausen ritt mit seinem Pferd durch das Festungstor des Feindes, als dieses plötzlich hinunter fiel und das Pferd halbierte. Mit dem Vorderteil ritt Münchhausen dann zum Marktbrunnen und lies es dort tränken. Als er dem Pferd einen Klaps geben wollte, bemerkte er erst, dass das Hinterteil fehlte. Das Wasser, was das Pferd soff, floss hinten wieder hinaus.
