Fountain in memory of the magician Franz Schweizer alias "Bellachini"
On April 12, 1886, Franz Schweizer was born in St. Martin as the son of a master tailor. Even at a young age, he was drawn out into the wide world. At 18, he stayed in Frankfurt am Main, where he accidentally became the assistant to a magician performing at a visiting circus. He traveled the lands with him until he met the famous magician Strack-Bellachini from Marburg in Görlitz. He toured Europe with him for two years. Then he improved his tricks and became self-employed. With his "Pigeon Trick" and especially with the "Floating Lady," he achieved great success and made the name "Bellachini" unforgettable.
