Energiemix - In Zukunft wird gemischt
Die Stadt St. Veit nimmt mit dem Projekt Sonnenstadt und dem Ausbau der Photovoltaik, wie hier auf dem Gelände der ehemaligen Mülldeponie, eine Vorreiterrolle in Sachen umweltschonender Energieerzeugung ein.
In Österreich spielt Strom aus Photovoltaikzellen insgesamt aber noch eine geringe Rolle. Im Jahr 2010 wurden nur etwa 0,04 % des Stroms durch Photovoltaik erzeugt. Neben dem wichtigsten Energieerzeuger Wasserkraft (mit etwa 58,5 %) steckt die Stromerzeugung aus Biomasse, Wind und Photovoltaik mit insgesamt etwa 7,5 % noch in den Kinderschuhen.
Dennoch, Österreich hat im weltweiten Vergleich mit etwa 34 % nur einen geringen Anteil an fossilen Energieerzeugern, wie zum Beispiel Öl, Gas und Kohle. Ziel muss es in Zukunft aber sein, diesen fossilen Anteil auf ein Minimum zu reduzieren – und da ist St. Veit ganz vorne dabei!
